Every other year the PTO hosts Penny Wars/Coin Race to help raise money for the school. In the past we've used the funds to fund supplies for the sensory room, for an outdoor basketball hoop, and to create a fund to eventually get a permanent Gaga Pit.
While the specifics vary from year to year, the way this works is that pennies and paper money count as positive points and all silver coins count as negative points. Players will want to put their pennies and cash into their own grade's bucket to increase their points while sabotaging the other grades by adding silver coins into their buckets.
The 2024 competition was especially fierce, and in addition to raising enough money to get a basketball hoop, the top two winning grades were invited to turn Mr. Brem and Mr. Muschlitz into human ice cream sundaes!
Our next planned Penny War will likely take place during the 2025/2026 school year.
