The PTO likes to kick off the school year by hosting a Color Run. This event has become a beloved tradition within the Salisbury community, and families who no longer have kids in the district will often stop by to take part in the fun.
What you can expect: Fundraising for the Color Run generally begins early in the school year. We invite families to register their fundraisers online using the instructions that are sent home on the informational flyer that gets sent home in September. Using the website makes it easier to share online with family and friends, which can help your student raise more money. Learn more about it by clicking this link.
There are several prize tiers for this fundraiser, and the items the students can win at each level changes from year to year. Some things we've offered as incentives in the past include wristbands, extra packs of color dust, sun glasses, and rainbow socks!
In addition to individual prizes, students also compete against other classes to see which classroom can raise the most money. The top two classes are invited to "Color Blast the Principals," a tradition that has generated a lot of friendly competition in the past!
While we've hosted different activities over the years the day of the event, generally we get started with a glow dance party in the gym before moving outside to do the mass Color Blast. The DJ will count us down and then participants will run the designated course, passing through several blasting stations where they'll be hit with color dust by our volunteers.
We often have food trucks, as well as the local first responders to ensure that everyone has a fun and safe experience during the run!
The Color Run has generally been a fall event in the past, and takes place the end of September or beginning of October. We're always looking for volunteers, so please be sure to check our volunteer page as planning begins!
