Meet PTO member

Caty Page

 

Caty Page is a mother to Grace (3rd grade) and Lucy (kindergarten). She says she first learned about the PTO during SES’s Open House when her daughter Grace started school. “I thought it was a great way to get involved in the school and a way to support the students/staff.” Her favorite PTO event is the Color Run. “This is such a fun event for the students as well as the families,” she says, adding that it’s exciting to see everyone get dressed up in their bright rainbow colors and creative outfits. “The kids have so much fun throwing the powder on one another. My mother even volunteers to throw the powder on everyone!” When asked what she wishes people knew about the PTO, Caty says she wishes people understood how important the it is and how much effort it takes to run the activities/events for the students. “The students get to have parties, supplies, and upgrades largely because of money the PTO raises.”

 

Caty says that being a member of the PTO is a very small price (just $10 when you sign up prior to September 30th, and only $15 after that) and it’s worth it. "Joining the PTO does not mean you have to attend every single meeting or activity either," she continues, adding that it's a way to stay connected to what is going on within the school, as well as know how to support/volunteer if able. 

 

"Being part of the PTO for the past 3 years has opened my eyes to how much the PTO actually does for the students as well as the school. The board members have been fantastic with creating activities or parties for the students to participate in and look forward too. I hope more people join the PTO and can volunteer their time so the PTO can continue creating great memories for the students."
